We serve a God whose area of expertise is doing wonders.

For many of us men, the struggle of this hymnologist - Henry Lytes - is not alien to us. Many of us might, at present, be in trying moments. We are in dire need of a continuous stream of light, yet the eventide keeps falling in. The eventide grows deeper, and the ensuing darkness deepens. Overwhelmed and engulfed, our emotions overflow and we cry out, ''Help, Lord''.
Helpless? None of us men wants to be. We guys like to be in control of our circumstances. We pride in our competences, capacities and connections. Sadly, many times our 'sufficiencies' fizzle out in the face of overwhelming burdens. So we crumble. We lose control. We have no other option. No one to go to. No where to turn to. Tearfully, we lift our hands to God and sing, ''Help of the helpless O abide with me''
Truth is when we are helpless, we make a statement of fact: THIS IS BEYOND ME! Helplessness is: Humanity reaching for Divinity; The Natural gasping for the Supernatural; and Impotence stretching for Omnipotence. So, when other helpers fail, and your helplessness drives you towards seeming hopelessness, that's when the GOD OF WONDERS steps in! Guys, I implore you to stand strong. I'm fully persuaded that you will see His wonders in your life which will cue you to sing, ''Who is like unto you o God among the gods; glorious in holiness, fearful in praises; doing wonders.''
